Originally known by the name Pháp Vân (the goddess Pháp Vân is worshipped here), Thái Lạc Pagoda was established in the early 14th century under the Trần kings and reconstructed in the 16th, 17th and 19th centuries. Its layout follows the architectural style associated with the Chinese character 三 (three), featuring three rows of buildings - the main sanctuary (nhà chính điện or nhà thượng điện), the 'incense-burning hall' (nhà thiêu hương) and the 'ancestor-worshipping house' (nhà tiền đường) - located parallel to each other.
