On 15/6, an officer of People’s Committee of , Hoang Ngoc Khanh announced that Thua Thien – Hue will be the host for the National Tourism Year 2012 with the theme “Hue – an ancient capital city – a new experience.”
National Tourism Year 2012 will consist of many activities such as Vietnamese Entrepreneur with and program which will be held for the first time, Festival of Culture, Sport and Tourism in Central Vietnam and Tay Nguyen, International Cooperation on Development of Road Tourism in Vietnam – Laos – Myanmar – Thailand (East West Economics Corridor) forum and Cultural Values and Strategy to Promote Tourism.
Thua Thien – Hue Province, in 2012, will organize Hue Festival 2012, Vesak Festival and Flower Festival, creating a rich and perse content for the National Tourism Year.
A number of four and five stars hotels was completed and put into use such as Mercure Hotel, Mondial Hotel, etc. (see f). Other projects are being actively developed such as the project of Angsana hotel, the Guest House and Hoa Binh international resort.
By the middle of May, 2011, Thua Thien- Hue province has welcomed 617,000 tourists visited Hue, up 6.8% over the same period last year. Revenues from accommodation establishments have reached 400 billion VND.
