Statistics from Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reveal a dramatic increase of 40% in the number of tourists (both inbound and domestic) in Vietnam in January, especially during Tet Holiday.
In Vietnam’s top tourism destinations such as , , , and Mui Ne, hotel occupancy reaches 85-90% on average. Recently recognized as one of the New Natural Seven Wonders, Ha Long has been attracting lots of tourists, especially international ones in the first month of 2012. This pushes the room occupancy rate in many hotels around the bay up to 100%.
Big domestic travel companies including Saigontourist, Vietravel, Hanoitourist report that their number of customers soars up to 152,000 with 42,500 inbound tourists, 70,000 domestic and 42,200 outbound ones during Tet occasion, 40% increase over the same period of 2011.

Hanoi, the 1000-year-old capital, the city of cultural attractions also welcomes a large number of international tourists in the last January: 183,000 tourists, 16% more than the same period of the same period last year.
Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism anticipates that tourist number from Vietnam’s traditional markets such as China, Japan, France, Australia and some South East Asian countries keeps increasing significantly in the first quarter of 2012.
